Introduction/Checkout to Woodshop – Members Only
mai 11 @ 14:00 - 16:00
FreeRequired Checkout/Introduction to the Woodshop at Bergen Fellesverksted for all members that want to use the woodshop.
Price: FREE for members.
This introduction is divided into 2 parts:
– BFV woodshop systems, workflow and HMS.
This first part is mandatory for everyone using the woodshop, regardless of level or being an existing member at BFV.
– Tools and equipment
The second part is either a quick checkout to acknowledge that the user knows how to operate our tools, or the user can stay and learn the setup and use of the tools.
If powertools and woodshops are new to you, this is a free course to learn the basics and be safe using the equipment.
We will run through the use of the following:
- Dust collection tools
- Mitre Saw
- Drill Press
- Band Saw (small)
- Hand Router
- Circular Saw
- Circular Track Saw
- Belt Sanders
- Jig/reciprocating/multipurpose saws
- Nail gun and compressor
- Drills
Minimum time: 40 minutes. Maximum time if going through all tools: 2 hours.
If you are an experienced woodworker, or familiar with most of the tools, this will not take long.
We run this introduction so all users of the woodshop have gotten the relevant information on workflow, HMS, systems, waste disposal and responsibility. It is a necessary precaution in a shared workspace.
Lack of having been approved through this checkout means the user is not allowed to use the woodshop apart from the designated “All Workstation” and basic hand tools and drills.
Likewise, lack of knowledge of this introduction will not be an excuse to use the woodshop, as it is being clearly informed to existing and new members.
Failure to turn up if sign up without informing will lock you out of the woodshop.
Equipment not included in this introduction, which requires advanced or specific courses:
- Table Saw
- Table Router
- Planer Thicknesser
- Lathes
- Oscillating Belt Sanders
- Spindle Belt Sander
- Band Saw (big)
- Any tool marked with “advanced” or its own requirement on label
If you are an experienced woodworker and familiar with these tools and feel you do no need a course, please contact BFV staff for a checkout on the Advanced tools.
Thank you
